Harka turned out to be a relaxed, caring and social guide

When my father and I met Harka it immidiately felt right. In the ten days that followed after our first meeting, Harka turned out to be a relaxed, caring and social guide with a lot of knowledge of Nepali nature, culture and people. But his good sence of humour and the willingness to adept the trekking to our needs and wishes, makes Harka a guide we will never forget.

17 days Tilicho Lake / Mesokunda Pass Trekking
treks nepal

Mesokunda pass trek (5100m/16732feet) will take you to the Tilicho Lake (4900m/16076 feet) situated in higher altitude of world. It includes in Annapurna region. We cross the Mesokunda Pass (5100m/16732feet) after we leaving Tilicho Lake to reach Jomsom.
Mesokunda pass trek starts from Besishahar and goes along the Marshyangdi River, with great view of Manaslu (8163m.) and Peak 29 to the east. Starting from less altitude, it gives us a chance to explore the Himalayas from bottom to top and from many different angles and perspectives and it supports to acclimatize your body. We spend walking through rice farms, forests and friendly villages belonging to the lower realms of the Annapurna Conservation Area. Reaching Pisang village, we have a choice of trails north or south of the Marsyangdi River which meet up again at Mungji. The southern route by Humde, with its airstrip (3325m /10908feet) involves less climbing than the northern route via Ghyaru, Ngawal though there are better views on the trail that follows the northern bank of the river. The village of Manang (3,500m/11483feet) marks the beginning of the next stage, where a day will be spent acclimatizing to the higher altitude. A number of excursions in the area can help the acclimatization process by visiting various monasteries or viewing, Gangapurna Lake, Ice Lake, Khangsar village, Milerepa Cave. After Manang, we take a trail through Tilicho Lake via Khangsar village. Mesokunda pass trek is more adventurous trek with comparison with other Annapurna classic circuit, so those who are physically strong and had already good experience in trekking over the glacier are considered for this. High mountain's climbing warm clothes are required. It is very cold at the base camp and while crossing the passes. So it is better to bring a pair of Crampons and Ice axe. Mesokunda pass trek offers spectacular views of the Himalayas. This route used to have snow all the time. The trek end at Jomsom or you can extend via world deepest Kali Gandaki between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges to Tatopani and Ghorepani.
